Review | Macadamia Healing Oil Spray

26 Mar 2013

Well hello there!! Its only been a week since I posted, but it feels like forever and a day. I've missed my little blog, but I've been so crazy busy. Baking a birthday cake last week (blog post to follow!), spending the weekend with the boyfriend and then work has been manic - is it really only Tuesday?! But, I'm back now - with loads of blog ideas so you'll hopefully see a few more posts from me soon.

I wanted to talk about the Macadamia Healing Oil Spray and for once I'm not actually raving about something. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a hate post - but I'm definitely not wowed.

My beloved Ojon oil (review HERE) is on its last legs, and before it ran out completely and I felt the urge to fork over another £30 I thought I'd try out a different hair oil to compare the two. I settled on the Macadamia Oil when I was making a TIGI purchase on Cheap Smells (great website!!) a while ago, I think it was in the sale and as it was only 60ml I thought I'd give it a try. The spray nozzle really intrigued me as it was so different to my Ojon oil.

There are a lot of things I really like about this product; the spray nozzle (as expected) is really handy and easy to use, the product smells really great and the small bottle size is perfect for travelling. My hair does also feel nourished and looks nicely shiny.

But, I find it leaves a greasy, sticky feeling to my hair. I generally use this when my hair has just been washed and is still wet, as this reduces the greasy feeling slightly, but it still leaves a strange residue. I'm not sure whether I'm just using too much of the product? Although I don't think I go crazy with the application, having a spray nozzle does make it easier to be overzealous I suppose.

At roughly £12 a 60ml bottle this isn't the cheapest of products, but compared with the Ojon oil which is £29 per 100ml its definitely an improvement. I can't say I'll be purchasing this product again, as I think it just doesn't suit my hair at all but I'm definitely going to take a look at other Macadamia products. The quality of the product was really apparent, and although using the spray near enough every day I'm not even close to finishing it. I also really enjoyed that the oil was in a spray format - definitely something that I'm going to look out for in other oils.

Let me know whether you've tried this oil and whether it worked with your hair or not? Hope you're all well and not freezing too much in this awful weather! Where's spring gone eh?

Review | Ojon Rare Blend Oil

16 Nov 2012

Well hello there!

I bought the Ojon Rare Blend Oil - Total Hair Therapy about 3 weeks ago and I've quite literally used it every single time i've washed my hair since! I'm quite enamoured with it, and therefore I thought i'd write a little review! :)

The description on the Ojon website is rather dramatic I thought, stating that

"From tropical Tahiti to the Kalahari Desert in Africa, from the remote rainforests of Central America and beyond, Ojon gathered potent natural oils legendary for their 'great healing powers' and infsed them into 3-hair phases; Amber, Crystal and Red."

It all sounds like the start of a fantasy novel...not that many novels are about hair, but you know what I mean! It goes on to say;

"One precious drop of this multi-tasking wonder helps, protects, nourishes and transforms dull, dry or damaged hair to vibrant health. Hair instantly looks glossier, shinier;suddenly feels softer, silkier, more luxurious."

Dramatic description aside, I do feel that it completely lives up to every promise! My hair looks so much healthier, glossier and is considerably less frizzy. (Great word frizzy, looks so weird written down though! haha) Usually I would need to straighten my hair to within an inch of its life to tame it from the lions mane that it usually is! And even then by the end of the day it would look pretty wild again! But with the Ojon oil, I find that it looks really smooth and sleek all day! It makes my morning hair routine much easier and quicker, which is a real plus for someone like me who struggles to be speedy in the morning!

Its a tadge pathetic but I also just enjoy how pretty it looks sitting on my chest of drawers! The three separate colours make it look really interesting and pretty :)

I always use it straight after I've washed my hair, and although you can use it on dry hair aswell as wet, for me personally it works best when my hair is still wet. As per the instructions, I shake the bottle to mix all three oils and it turns quite a pretty dusky pink colour, despite the picture making it look quite orange!

You only need a tiny amount on your hair, and considering I've had this for quite a while and been using it almost every day, I don't think I've used a massive amount! You can buy it in most stores for £29 which is quite a big splurge! But now I've tried it I feel like I won't be able to live without it! Oops! I am however going to try various hair oils to see if there is a cheaper alternative that's just as good.

But if you don't mind a little splurge every now and then, I completely and wholeheartedly recommend this! I am very much in love with it! You can purchase it here.

I hope you're all well, and enjoying Children In Need if you're in the UK. :)

Bye for now!

Shopping Haul.

29 Oct 2012

Well hello there!

I hope you are well! :) I've had a lovely two days, shopping with my sister, and then today visiting my cousin as it was her 31st birthday and playing with her two lovely daughters :). They're 3 and 1, so adorably cute!

So, me and my sister Katie, went shopping in Guildford yesterday! For those of you that haven't been, Guildford is really pretty, and has cobble stones down the main high street, which always makes a town look really cute I think :) And, the shops are ace too!

I didn't get a massive amount, as we were attempting to find an outfit for my sister, as our cousin John is getting married next weekend :) Andd, we did mess around quite abit trying on ridiculously fancy clothes with extortionate price tags, just for the fun :)

Anyway! Heres what I got, :);

My BARGAIN OF THE DAY! A lovely Mustard Blazer from Topshop!

Now, as you probably all know, blazers from Topshop are usually around the £55-65 mark! Which, as much as I love Topshop and really am in need of a good new blazer, is just way too expensive for me at the moment! But, I saw this beauty in the sale rack, and managed to blag it for just £20! Bargain or what?! I was well chuffed! The picture makes the colour look a little dark, it's actually slightly lighter but still very vibrant! I can't wait to wear it :) Oh, and it feels super soft!

I then blagged another sale item! This time in River Island, a really cool plain white structured shirt;

I've seen this in River Island for a while now, and always been unsure of whether I liked the 'hole' design by the collar, but as this was only £12 in the sale, I figured I may aswell try it! And I love it! Its a nice twist to what otherwise would just be a plain shirt! Result! :)

I got this black leather bag for my cousin Michele's birthday;

It was from Accesorize, and was about £35 which I thought was pretty standard for the shop! I really liked the butterfly detail though, and being an over-the-shoulder bag (which was pretty damn roomy) I thought it was perfect for a busy mummy :) She really liked it anyway, so thumbs up Accessorize! :)

The last item I picked up was, the Ojon Rare Blend Oil - Total Hair Therapy from Boots;

It was £29, so abit of a splurge but I really wanted to try it! And it just looks so prettyy, how could I resist?! ;)

I used it this morning, and my hair did feel instantly smoother and really soft! And now, after going out in the horrible wind and random rain showers its still looking good! So I'm a very happy camper so far! I'll do a proper review when I've used it for abit longer though :)

I tried to take a picture of my hair after using the Ojon oil to show you, but I'm god-awful at taking pictures of myself so this was the best out of the lot (harks back to my emo/scene days :P). I do think it has made my hair look quite sleek and de-frizzed though! :)

One last thing, its not beauty/fashion related...butt I am LOVING this M&S Peach, Camomile and Green Tea drink at the moment! Its literally delicious! And only a pound! Gotta love M&S Food :)

So thats everything! I hope you enjoyed the post, :)

I'll leave you with a good thought;

"While there's life, there's hope."

Bye for now!
