My hair has been in dire need of a refresh for months now, so I was superrr excited to finally have it done on the weekend! I went to Colour Nation just off of Oxford Street and had a lovely relaxing afternoon.

At the moment I seem to be salon-hopping in my quest to find the perfect salon for me. ColourNation isn't perfect location wise and was at the top end of my budget, but I did love the cut and colour I got there. Even the boyfriend said it was the best cut I'd had a in a while - high praise let me tell you!

I actually went in asking for a refresh of my ombré. Only to be told that because of how subtle the graduation in colour is in my hair, what I really have is balayage. Aside from being hard to say, I'm okay with that! I've always been very fearful of having an obvious split of the colours in my hair, so if balayage means 'more natural' then I'm all for it!

I had Senior Stylist Kristina working on my hair and aside from being really lovely, she really listened to what I wanted and checked every step of the way if it was all okay. Thats something I haven't really found before. Usually you have a brief consultation at the start, and thats it. You're left at the mercy of their hands!

I wanted the colour to stay quite ashy rather than a bright 'in your face' kind of blond, so she added a toner whilst washing my hair. Cut wise I didn't have anything drastic, just a trim off the ends and a bit of layering to frame my face more.

I realise the pictures above don't make my hair look toooo different, but I really just wanted a refresh of what I already had. The ends of my hair look so damaged in the top picture, so I'm soo glad I've had that all chopped off now! I also am a little windswept in the 'after' pictures, but I wanted to show you it fresh from the salon!

Muji Storage.

So as you may have guessed I've jumped on the very pretty Muji storage bandwagon! I've always lusted over every review of them, and finally decided that on moving out it'd be the best storage solution for me.

As I'm sharing a room with my boyfriend I wanted my make-up to be neatly packed out of his way but also to be pretty and easy to get to for me! Muji storage fits the bill perfectly. Stacking everything in its drawers was weirdly pleasing to do - especially my lipstick layer!

I got the drawers as a Birthday present from my lovely mummy, but I picked them out! I got the 3 drawer unit and the 2 drawer wide unit which I stacked on top.  The 3 drawer unit is really quite thin so definitely not suitable for foundation bottles. Its perfect for lipsticks and eyeshadows though! The top two drawers have a much wider depth and you can fit a lot more bulky makeup in. Although, I've just used my top drawer to house all my current everyday makeup.

I bought my drawers in store, and although I'd already read many reviews that said how small they actually are in person I was still a little surprised. So if you buy them online, you've been forewarned! haha

The drawers are so affordable though, which makes me not feel quite as bad about possibly buying another set in the future! 5 drawers are clearly not enough....ahem ;) I also really love being able to see all my make-up through the clear acrylic. Makeup packaging is so pretty nowadays anyway so we might as well show it off!

My Style Evolution.

I'm quite a sentimental person and looking back at old pictures is one of my favourite pastimes. So with that in mind I thought I'd take a look back at how I've evolved throughout the years, from a baby to the present day. Whats immediately apparent, is that I had some interesting ideas on how best to style my hair...

As a 90's child I was never destined to be as stylish as the toddlers I see running around today! But I don't think my mum did too bad; cute little dresses are always a winner! The end of the 90's and early Noughtie's seemed to take a turn for the worse however and my love for black trousers came in to play. I'm not entirely sure how this begun, but I vividly remember literally living in black trousers. Its funny how I seem to have come full circle when it comes to clothes - as a child I was never out of a dress. Cut to the age of 10 and trousers were my thing. I wouldn't be caught dead in a dress and I HATED washing my hair! Then cut to the present day and my wardrobe is overflowing with dresses and I spend far too much time on my hair!

In 2002 I started High School and appeared to begin a love for the 'Jane Eyre' hairstyle as I like to call it. It definitely was NOT a good look for me, and my puppy fat was only accentuated by it! Oh dear..Also how delightful was my school uniform? I was a shining beacon. Check out 2003's amazing fur lined jacket too. That was a favourite for many a year!

2004 saw the feeble beginning of my interest in fashion. It started off slow, mainly with lots of long necklaces to 'jazz' up my outfits. But that era of my life was definitely the birth of my love for the more girly side to life! That was also the time of my love for skinny jeans! From 2005 I started cutting my hair really short, which I REALLY regret now!! Why oh why did I do it?! So frustrating! It didn't even suit me..ahh the joy of hindsight!

In 2008 I finally acquired contacts and could get rid of the glasses I'd worn nearly my whole life! It was a very exciting time for me!! Especially as I could buy my first pair of sunglasses - too exciting, trust me. By 2009 I'd started growing out my hair again and was still loving my long necklaces. 2012 saw me make the most momentous hair decision I'd ever made..... having a fringe cut in. I know, groundbreaking. But it was for me. I'm SO glad I decided to do it though! By 2013 I was getting even crazier and decided to jump on the Ombré trend and dresses were back on the menu in full swing!

And here we are, in 2014. I don't know if I particularly have a "style" now, but I'm definitely the most comfortable I've felt in my own skin for a while and I definitely think that's a good thing.

FOTD to FOTN.

Today I thought I'd share with you a FOTD to FOTN look that I've been loving lately. It once again features my favourite lip product of the moment and an old favourite in terms of eyeshadow!

Like nearly all FOTD or FOTN posts I've written I'm once again using my trusty Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 52. I really do love this foundation, it suits my skin so well. So well in fact that I'm quite scared to try anything new! I also used the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - another trusty companion to my foundation and the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. These products create such a good base for me and one that lasts all day!

For eyes I used Frosted Ginger from my NARS eyeshadow duo in Isolde. I used to wear this duo literally allll the time, but to be honest I kinda forgot about it! I love how it looks in the inner corners of my eye though, so I'm definitely going to start digging it out more! I washed this across the lid, and then added definition in the outer corners and along the crease with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe. I then added my favourite eyeliner the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen to create a cat flick, and added the Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara to my lashes. Still my favourite mascara to date!

For my cheeks I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy and the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle to highlight. I absolutely love this combination, it looks so pretty for spring! The Tarte blush is absolutely one of my favourites too, and really does stay on your cheeks all day!

Finally, to take this look into the night I added my Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Striking. I won't go into my love for this again, but if you're thinking of trying it? DO!

FOTD | Springy Days.

Ever taken a load of FOTD pictures only to realise when you upload the photos that actually you have a ridiculous fringe throughout it? Yeah? That. So annoying :( It was badly in need of a cut that day too, so it looks rather interesting. Silly fringe aside though, I am loving this look for the sunny weather we're having at the moment! Gotta love a reddy-orange lip ♥

My Revlon Matte Balm hasn't left my handbag since I got it, its such a staple shade for me at the moment. I definitely think I'm going to invest in a few other shades from the Matte Balm range as I love the formula soo much. So handy to apply on the go without a mirror too which is great!

Review | Emma Hardie AM/PM Treatment Moisturiser

All hail to the most decadent moisturiser to have ever graced my skincare stash. It's definitely one of the most high-end products I've ever splurged on but as I've found out, totally lives up to expectation. I spoke about this briefly last week in my Mini Space NK Haul but I thought it definitely deserved its own starring review.

The Emma Hardie AM/PM Treatment Moisturiser is part of the Amazing Face collection and promises to leave you with hydrated, supple and glowing skin. As it states, it can be used as a day and night cream but I generally only use it at night as I find it a bit too thick for the morning. Also, I'm just lazy and my Effaclar Duo+ doubles up as my morning moisturiser and primer - so I'd rather use that!

I've been using it every night (near enough!) for a month now and I've really noticed a difference! My skin feels really soft and I've noticed it looks a lot healthier too. Also, the few days in which I haven't used the moisturiser I've really noticed my skin feeling the loss! I'll get really bad dry patches that'll clear up as soon as I start using the moisturiser again. Brilliant news for the moisturiser, but perhaps not so much for my bank balance if I start to rely on it!

The actual consistency of the moisturiser feels soo luxurious, really creamy and thick. It does take a little longer to sink into my skin than other moisturisers I've used but not so long that it gets annoying. I only use two small fingertip amounts on each application, so I've hardly used any of the tub in the whole month! I'll definitely get the most out of my money.

Finally, my favourite aspect (other than the amazing effects!) is the gorgeous scent of the moisturiser!! Lavender, Geranium and Peppermint essential oils make up the scent and literally it smells sooo damn good. I am a real lover of peppermint anyway, it just feels so refreshing on the skin. Its definitely my favourite skincare smell!

All in all, this may be pricey but so far I am most definitely one happy camper and it's definitely going to stay apart of my everyday routine for a long while now. Have you tried any of the Emma Hardie range?

Spotlight On: Rimmel

Back in February I started a little series where I put the spotlight on a particular brand. Its now April, and this is my second installment - oops! Lot's of other posts got in the way, but it's back now with the spotlight placed firmly on Rimmel. When I was deciding which three Rimmel products were my favourite I was surprised to realise that I didn't have a signal eyeshadow, blush or bronzer from the brand! Apparently, I favour their base and lip products, as can be seen above!

My first favourite is one that I've repurchased time and time again; the Stay Matte Powder in Translucent.

It keeps my makeup in check all day, literally and keeps me looking shine free! I do always fear looking shiny, so I love using this across my T-Zone to make sure everything stays in check. Its a really lightweight powder and doesn't give you a cakey look at all. It's definitely been a permanent fixture in my make-up bag for a longggg time now and I can't see it leaving anytime soon either!

The Wake Me Up Concealer in True Ivory has also been a firm favourite of mine for quite a while now. I'm pretty sure I'm on my third or fourth tube of the stuff now, and I won't be stopping any time soon! I find it so easy to apply, its really creamy and blends out really well. Its really high coverage and stays in place for a good 8 hours or more!

Finally, a lipstick! More specifically the Moisture Renew lipstick in In Love With Ginger. As the name would suggest this lipstick is packed full of moisture ensuring dry patchy lips are not an issue! The lipstick glides on really well and sits super comfortably on the lips. The shade is a really lovely orangey-red, perfect for Spring/Summer in my eyes and it'll look even better with a tan! It lasts for a good few hours, and leaves a nice stain on the lips.

Tag | I ♥ Spring.

To mark the DELIGHTFUL start to a sunny Spring I thought I'd kick things off with this little tag! Knowing me I'll have jinxed us all now and it'll rain all week. If I've begun this I'm sorry, I accept all charges! But for now, on-wards with the tag! :)

1. Favourite Spring nail polish?

Anything Mint Green or Sky Blue has my heart in Spring. Recently I've really been loving White nails though, I think they look so chic but subtle. I was thinking of getting something from Essie, any recommendations??

2. What is your must-have lip colour this spring?

I'm not entirely sure how spring-like this colour is but I've still been loving the orange-toned red of my Revlon Matte Balm in Striking. I think it looks so gorgeous in the sun and it'll look even better towards the end of spring with a tan! But, really anything orange toned because I think coral shades look great in Spring.

3. Show us your favourite Spring dress!

As this isn't a YouTube video this is slightly more tricky to do, but I think I'm going to point you to my Primark OOTD from last Summer where I wore the famed Red Flower dress from Primark. I know this OOTD is from Summer, but I love this dress SO much and now Spring has sprung its made its way back into my wardrobe. I think its just so pretty, and its a really light material making it perfect for Spring/Summer. 

4. What's your favourite flower?

Spring is when my love for Daffodils comes back in full force. I bought a bunch last week and they made me happy every time I saw them - sad but true! I just think they're so cute, and they definitely create the buzz of excitement that Winter is finally over! 

5. Favourite Spring Scarf/Accessory?

This has to be my Union Jack scarf from ASOS that I got a few years ago. Its really lightweight and made from a super soft material. It's also really big though so it still feels like you have something that'll actually keep you warm. Also, because the colours are slightly faded it gives a slight vintagey feel which I love. 

6. What Spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both)

I think this is definitely the pastel shades littering the high-street. I've seen mint green and pastel pink leather jackets which just look uh-mazing. Also, I'm a massive fan of the midi skirt and these seem to be back in full force this season, so yay!

7. Favourite Spring candle?

I honestly don't light enough candles to be able to give an answer to this question! I do however REALLY want a Diptyque candle because I was smelling some the other day and they smelt sooo good. Really fresh and springy - but obviously I didn't take note of what the candles I liked were called because I'm super smart!Any recommendations??

8. Favourite body spray/perfume for Spring?

This is tricky! I have two, but one is probably cheating slightly. My signature scent if you will is Chloé's L'eau de Chloé. It smells so fresh and crisp - perfect for Spring! I do however where this all year round, so realistically I'd say my favourite for Spring in particular is Marc Jacob's Daisy Eau de Toilette. I love how floral this smells, whilst still remaining fresh and light. It's not musky at all, just perfect for a Spring day! 

9. What is Spring like where you live?

As I live in England, I won't lie its not exactly super warm and April showers are rife. But, I do think Spring in England is so so lovely. The trees full of blossom, daffodils around and obviously countless Mini Eggs to consume - what could be better?! Spring is definitely one of my favourite times of the year, especially as it just builds my excitement for Summer! 

10. What's your favourite thing about Spring?

Oops! I feel like I kind of answered this in the question above, but it's probably this little scene: a Sunday afternoon, windows open throughout the house with a light breeze flowing through, sun streaming in and a day of pottering around the house ahead. That kind of a Spring day is my favourite. 

11. Are you a Spring cleaner?

I definitely get swept up in the buzz of Spring cleaning and taking the time to de-clutter aspects of my life - not always physical aspects too. Buttt, I wouldn't say I always manage to follow through and complete all my plans. Its a bit like New Years for me in a way!

12. Any plans for Spring break or an upcoming vacation?

Obviously, as I'm not American we don't really have 'Spring break' in the same way that you do across the pond, so I wish I could say yes! But sadly I don't have anything planned. It's my Birthday on Easter Weekend though which will be fun :)

Mini Space NK Haul.

This may come as a surprise to many of you, but until a few weeks ago I'd never bought anything in Space NK. I know its craziness! But a few weeks ago I finally took the plunge and splurged a little. I have to say Space NK have the best customer service ever. The lady who helped me was so lovely, we had such a nice chat and she picked out some awesome samples for me!

I actually went in there to look for a new moisturiser and as soon as I smelt the Emma Hardie AM/PM Treatment Moisturiser I was sold. I'd never even read any reviews on it beforehand, but I knew I had to have it. It comes in the same cute pot just like the Moringa Cleansing Balm which looks really lovely on my dressing table. I've only been using the cream for about a fortnight but it feels really luxurious on my skin and sinks in really well. It smells gorgeously of Lavender, Geranium and Peppermint and can be used day and night. So far, I love it! I'll have a full review soon though.

The second product I picked up was a bit of an impulse buy that I was drawn to by the tills. I've read countless reviews of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and always wondered if it was really something I needed. But when I neared the tills I saw a travel sized version and with my blogger head on I justified that it was a good way of trying it! It is SO refreshing and a lovely scent, but I'm still not sure whether its exaclty a necessity! Again, full review to come!

I always think its a really lovely touch when you're given samples, and the lady who chose mine was really lovely. She asked me what products I was currently using so she could gauge what samples would be best which I thought was really nice. I got two samples of the Cane + Austin ReTexturising Treatment Pads which are meant to exfoliate and re-texture the skin. I've never used anything from Cane + Austin so I'm excited to try them! She also gave me two Intense Hydration Serum samples from Eve Lom, which I was really excited about! Finally, I also got two Radiance Life Foundation samples from Eve Lom's new makeup range in Ivory 2 which I can't wait to try!

Review | La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+

Back in February I posted a review on the original Effaclar Duo and deigned it holy grail status. Since then I have been road testing the new and improved Effaclar Duo+* and unsurprisingly I'm still in love. So whats changed?

The original Effaclar Duo treated my spots, blemishes and clogged pores with ease. My skin was visibly brighter and any spots were zapped immediately. So why fix what isn't broken right?

Well, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that spots and blemishes leave us with red marks and scarring long after the spot has actually cleared up. My skin in particular is SUCH a slow healer so any blemish or spot will stay with me for a long time after. This is where the Effaclar Duo+ comes into play. It contains a new ingredient which rebuilds the skins surface ensuring you aren't left with any of these marks. Amazing news for anyone with skin like me!

It literally is a skin saviour; helping to prevent spots appearing in the first place, targeting them straight away if they do arrive and cleaning up after them so that no scarring is left behind.

I find that the texture of the Duo+ is slightly thicker than the original Duo but it still sinks in really well and leaves my skin feeling super moisturised. You can use the Duo+ with or without a moisturiser over the top, its completely up to you. I find that in the morning it really helps to prime my skin before I apply my make-up and so I only use the Duo+. But in the evening, I also use my Emma Hardie AM/PM Treatment Moisturiser.

All in all, the Duo+ is still HG status for me.

Review | Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Striking

Its official. I've found my go-to Spring lip. Initially I wasn't going to buy any of the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm's as to be honest I already have lots of balms from different brands in my collection. But, a few good reviews here and there and I was sucked in. I picked up the shade Striking and I'm literally in love with it.

Its a beautiful red, that has slight orange undertones on me. Its quite a bold colour, but is definitely buildable to create a subtler or stronger look depending on your preference. Its such a great colour I really think it would suit most skintones!

Despite being a matte finish the formula is super moisturising as the balms are made up of a Triple Butter Complex - shea, mango and coconut butters. I've found that the balm lasts really well throughout the day, and I only had to reapply once or twice after eating! The balms also have a (really) slight peppermint scent which is great for the mint lovers out there, myself included.

I think its such a perfect shade for spring/summer, and they're great to use on the go. Can you tell I love it? ;) Now my only question is which shade I should try next! Any suggestions?

Now onto the questions!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.

I'm terrible at moisturising! I always moisturise my face night and day, but the rest of me is sorely neglected! I just hate that sticky feeling! 

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you regularly do?

I am usually pretty good at this actually and try to wash them once a week! It'll be two weeks at the most if I don't have time, so not too bad I don't think :)

3. How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?

Oh god, I am literally the worst for picking at my nails as soon as I get a chip! I think I've really started to damage my nails, because I'm forever just picking it off. I hate how nail varnish looks when its chipped though, so I'd rather just get it all off straight away and start again.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing beauty or nail products even if you need it?

Things like make-up remover and cotton pads I never run out of because I always keep back-ups. Generally I will replace items just before they run out, as long as they are needed items anyway! 

5. What is your worst beauty habit?

I've pondered over this question for a while now and to be honest I'm not entirely sure! But, I guess its picking at my nails like I said before! 

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off all the time?

Dusting! Its just so boring, even hoovering is more interesting and a lot less time consuming!

7. When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to the last minute or not?

It depends really! If I'm leaving in the morning then I would get ready as soon as I wake up, but if I'm not going out till the afternoon/evening I'll probably leave it ages and then have to rush because I've under anticipated the time I have! Typical me!

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

I've never attempted one actually! I can imagine I would struggle though. I'm one of those people that wants what I can't have, so it'd be better for me to just try and spend less than not at all!

9. How organised is your makeup and nail polish collection?

Pretty well organised actually! I've used old Glossyboxes to make separate compartments in my chest of drawers. And I have my everyday makeup in my makeup bag, so its all tidied away! As its ever growing though, I'm sure I'll have to find a new solution soon! 

10. What is the longest amount of time you've gone without writing a blog post?

In the summer of last year I was pretty lax with my blogging and I think I went about 2 weeks without posting! I'm so much better now though, and post 4 times a week! I think its also that I enjoy it so much more now too so I couldn't bear not posting for that long again! :)

Review (and Tutorial!) | Enrapture Encode Totem Styler

I've always struggled to curl my hair with straighteners. I can never seem to make it symmetrical on both sides and it also takes me about 25 minutes to do it all! Not exactly handy when you're rushing out the house! So when I received the Enrapture Encode Totem Styler for Christmas I was a very happy girl indeed!!

The styler has three different heat sections, which is amazing for creating loads of different styles without buying lots of different attachments. It creates really smooth, sleek curls and waves and comes with a travel case-come-heat mat which is super handy!

I filmed myself creating my go-to hair look at the moment, using the heat setting 1-1-1. The whole process only takes me about 10-15 minutes and the curls stay in all day, which in my hair is a big bonus.

Review | Maybelline Volum' Express the Mega Plush Mascara

Maybelline really do make some of the best mascaras on the highstreet, and after trying quite a few out of their range I think I've found my favourite. It also just so happens to be one of the longest named mascaras out there! The Volum' Express the Mega Plush mascara - what a mouthful!

The mascara wand is flexible, making it really easy to coat all of your lashes evenly. The wand is super fat too so your lashes are coated really quickly! The only downside with that is its really easy to get mascara under your bottom lashes, but its nothing a bit of make-up remover can't sort out.

I love how much volume it gives my lashes, and it really helps to separate them too. In the picture above I've used about three coats to achieve the look. I have the mascara in Blackest Black, so it really makes a statement of your lashes and frames your eyes well.

At £7.99 its a really affordable option and is a definite favourite in my make-up bag. Do you like the Maybelline mascaras?
