A Volt of MAC

6 Sept 2013

Back in July I made another sneaky MAC purchase and bought the gorgeous Vegas Volt. I haven't gotten around to actually writing the post until now though!

When I first saw this shade it was amongst an 'orange' collection in the Carnaby Street MAC. I always admire people who can pull off quite a strong orange lip as it can look so amazing and such a twist on the usual statement red. Now I know Vegas Volt isn't actually the brightest of oranges, (being slightly more on the coral side) but its definitely a shade I wouldn't have usually picked so I'm glad I took the leap :)

Vegas Volt is part of the Amplified Creme formula which is so moisturising and creamy on my lips. Its also super pigmented so you only really need one coat to get full coverage. You can always blot your lips a little if you want to pare it down as well.

Its such a great bright colour for summer, but I think it'll definitely still work in the colder months to give a pop of colour to your outfit. :) It seems to be quite long lasting, going at least 2-3 hours before I need to re-apply which isn't bad at all!

Also! Apologies for my slightly moody face in the picture above, if I remember correctly I think I was having one of those days where no photo looked right and I was getting majorly fed up with myself! haha

Let me know what your favourite MAC lipsticks are, cos I'm always on the lookout for more (despite my bank balance screaming no!). :)

By the time you read this I will be on the Isle of Wight at Besitval! SO excitedd! I'll be back on Monday though with a new post soon after telling of my festival weekend :)

A Trio of Colour

14 Aug 2013

About a month or so ago I was having a peruse around the Sleek stand and came across this Blush by 3 in Lace trio. I love Sleek's powder products - for their price they always seem to be crazily pigmented! All three shades are really beautiful and despite looking quite bright in the pan, can make a really subtle finish.

Crochet is the only matte finish in the palette, with Guipure having an obvious shimmer and Chantilly a subtle shine giving a satin like finish. Obviously being the most coral-like of the three, my favourite is definitely Crochet. I've literally not stopped wearing it! I love having all three blushes in the same compact though, its so handy for my make-up bag and all three shades are great for everyday wear.

As always the Sleek packaging is great, with a massive mirror in the compact (SO great for top ups on the go!) and at a price of £9.99 you can't really go wrong! Compared to my individual Sleek blush in Rose Gold (review HERE) the pans are only slightly smaller here, so it really is worth considering a palette rather than an individual blush.

Sleek's 'Pro Tips' suggest layering the blushes for higher intensity - I haven't tried this myself, as I prefer blush to be quite subtle but you could definitely use the blushes in this way for a night out perhaps for added impact. The blush lasts all day on my skin too, even when only using one shade.

If you haven't already checked out Sleek's blushes I'd definitely recommend doing so! Let me know if you have any of their palettes! :)

Review | Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti

14 Apr 2013

Please ignore my tired eyes!
For an everyday burst of colour, the Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti is my perfect go-to. Its moisturising, easy to apply and fades evenly on the lips throughout the day. The Lip Butters have been seriously hyped in the beauty world and in my eyes they completely live up to it.

I bought the lip butter in Superdrug a month or so ago on one of their many offers and I've really enjoyed using it. Now its finally getting to spring weather I'm loving coral shades and this is just so perfect.

The formula of the lip butters feel so lovely on the lips - really moisturising and they leave your lips feeling smooth and soft. The colour is quite sheer but is buildable to create a really pretty corally-pink. I love this as it makes it so wearable in the day but can be built up for an evening look.

With the lip butter being such a moisturising texture, the colour fades evenly on the lips throughout the day and doesn't build up at the corners of your mouth like some lipsticks. It also makes it super easy to re-apply, especially on the go as you don't really need a mirror.

Basically I'm really enjoying it, and I'm definitely going to have a look at other lip butter shades. Any recommendations for me?
