Review | Soap and Glory Supercat Liquid Eyeliner Pen

14 Feb 2014

When it comes to eyeliner my preferred application is with a felt-pen like nib. I find it super easy to use and I don't have to worry about smudges when I'm first applying. The Soap and Glory Supercat Liquid Eyeliner Pen is my absolute favourite at the moment for this!

I've always loved Soap and Glory's bath and skincare range but I'd never really delved into their make-up before. I have always heard good reviews though so I thought I'd take the plunge and try something for myself! The eyeliner has quite a large nib which can make precise or small lines trickier to create, but with a bit of practice it gets easier. You can create really smooth lines with the pen, that give your eyes a really professional look.

The pen is so highly pigmented, so you get a really dramatic deep black line which I love. I hate it when black eyeliners look grey on the skin. It also stays put ALL DAY. Literally, even with this god-awful weather in the UK at the moment, it does. not. budge. I don't think I've ever used such a long-lasting eyeliner, and at £6.00 it's a real bargain!

I urge you to try it if you're on the lookout for a new eyeliner! :)

Love At First Use. #2

7 Jan 2014

I posted the first 'Love At First Use' post a couple of weeks ago, and as it seemed to go down really well I thought I'd do another! :) This time around I have one Christmas present to share and two skincare products! :)

First up is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, a firm favorite in the blogging community. I've been using and loving the No. 7 Hot Cloth Cleanser for many months now, but as it recently run out and I was in need of buying more muslin cloths after my Dad decided to use mine to clean up his grouting work on our bathroom tiles....don't ask. I decided to finally try the famed Cleanse and Polish as I could buy the Starter Kit which came with two cloths! Obviously, surprise surprise - I bloody love it. The cream feels so luxurious on my skin and smells amazing too! I'm left with soft clear skin and I love how fresh and clean I feel too. Also, I love the size of the muslin cloths, they're a lot larger than most you can buy!

Secondly, is the rightfully named 'Greatest Scrub of All' by Soap and Glory. I'm a big lover of Soap and Glory products and this is definitely the best face wash I've tried in a long time. Although this has beads in that scrub your skin, its not painful like so many facial scrubs, it just gives a pleasant tingle instead. Weirdly, I describe this as if its a toothpaste for the face. It smells really minty, is white in colour and leaves me feeling thoroughly scrubbed! Possibly not the best analogy, but I love it.

Lastly, is the Nars At First Sight Palette. This was a Christmas present from my mum and dad, and I literally love it. I've wanted a Nars Palette for so long, so to actually have one in my possession is super exciting! The blush is Deep Throat, and the bronzer the famed Laguna. Both are so beautiful on the skin, I've worn them practically every day since I got this! The eyeshadows are so pigmented and creamy and they blend so well. You can't buy any of the eyeshadows individually, but they all come from duo's. From Top Left, to Bottom Right they are from: All About Eve, Nouveau Monde, Bellissima and Cordura (II). The palette is so handy for travelling, especially with the giant mirror. Its Love.

What products are you obsessed with at the moment? :)

Love At First Use!

20 Dec 2013

Ever bought a product and fell in love straight away? Sometimes I think you just know whether you're going to get along with a product or not, and for me, the three products above are those in question. I bought all three products nearly two weeks ago, and literally can't stop using them! So here is a mini review of each, with my initial thoughts. :)

Soap and Glory products have long been a fixture in my bathroom cabinet, but somehow I hadn't tried the Pulp Fiction Body Scrub before. Now I don't know how I lived without it! It has a gorgeous scent, really fruity as the name suggests and although its grainy and feels like its really buffing your skin, its not painful like some body scrubs can be. I've used this every day in the shower now for about 2 weeks, and my skin really does feel noticeably smoother and softer. I slather on the Sugar Crush Body Wash (my favourite scent!) after using the scrub, and it literally feels like a dream smoothing it on. Just SO soft! So far? Its love. :)

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is most likely a staple in many a beauty bloggers stash, but I hadn't gotten around to trying it. When I saw it with £3 off in Boots a few weeks back however, I couldn't resist! I use it before my morning routine and last thing at night. My skin really does seem noticeably clearer and its helped to clear up a little breakout I had recently. I loveee how quickly it sinks into the skin without leaving you feeling tacky. Only needing a small amount for the whole face and neck is great too, it'll definitely last a while! So far? Its love. :)

Lastly, after re-purchasing the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer a zillion times I decided to branch out and finally try the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. I loved the foundation throughout summer when I wanted a healthy glow, but I'd never gotten round to trying the concealer. I love the consistency of this, its so creamy and blends out really well. Its quite a high coverage which is great, and brightens under my eyes nicely. I hear its a dupe for the Nars Creamy Concealer which just makes me want to try the Nars version even more! So far? Its love. :)

Do you find yourself loving products straight away, or does it take you a while to decide?

Review | Soap and Glory 'The Fab Pore' Hot Cloth Cleanser

7 Feb 2013

"You could be one wash away from an amazing face" they state on the pretty cardboard packaging. Really, was I meant to be able to resist that? Also, to help justify the purchase, I originally wanted to try the famed Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, but at £25 for a full size bottle I decided to test out hot cloth cleansers at a more purse friendly price of £10. Although, technically I paid nothing as I used my Boot's points card!

Justified purchase? I'm going to hope you've all agreed :)

The whole beauty world seems enamoured with hot cloth cleansers and I had been wanting to try them for quite a while, so when I saw this in Boots I thought it was the perfect opportunity to go for it! The cleanser is a good size, and comes with a really soft muslin cloth so for £10 I was quite impressed. As with all Soap and Glory products the signature scent of the product is really lovely.

The cleanser is a '3-in-1 concentrated deep purifying formula' which you massage into your face targeting problem areas like your chin, nose and forehead. To achieve the best results, they state to leave the cleanser on for a minute or so (I brush my teeth whilst I'm waiting) and then wash it off with the warm cloth. It immediately leaves your face feeling tight, which I quite enjoy as I really feel like the product is working! After a few minutes my face is then left really super soft and lovely. After about 2 weeks of daily use I really have noticed a difference and my face feels a lot healthier and looks a lot clearer. You only need a tiny splodge (technical Soap and Glory term there!) for each application so the product really does last ages too.

I really enjoy the whole premise of using a hot cloth to cleanse your face as its really refreshing and I look forward to it each evening. I definitely think I will try the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish soon, but for now the Soap and Glory version suits me just fine :)

Have any of you tried either of the cleansers? Let me know if you've had luck with either :)
